Board of Directors

President – Laurie Taylor-Mitchell

Laurie Taylor-Mitchell founded the Loch Raven Network in December of 2015 with the help of over 100 volunteers; the Network became a registered non-profit in 2016 and grew to become the Student Support Network in April of 2018. Her local model for assisting students in poverty is being replicated in schools across Baltimore County.  She taught Art History at Hood College for ten years, and was active in the PTAs at Hampton Elementary and Ridgely Middle schools, and the PTSA at Loch Raven High School.

Vice President – Chris Diehl

Chris Diehl is a former social worker and currently Director of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Preschool. Chris has been involved with the Network from the beginning as a donor and volunteer. She organizes and stocks (and restocks) our Room of Support at the Loch Raven High School, and organizes and updates the Sign Up Genius website for their Room of Support. Chris also Chairs the Advisory Council representing all schools to the Board.

Treasurer – Mike Weber

Mike Weber, CPA, is founder and co-owner of WeberMessick. Mike was instrumental in helping us incorporate as a tax-exempt non-profit organization. He is the Network Treasurer and also provided assistance for the design of the Network website through SocialRedDog, a company he founded that specializes in social media and publicity.

At Large Board Member – Brackie Mitchell

Brackie Mitchell is a scientist and researcher at the University of Maryland (and in the interests of full disclosure, Laurie’s spouse) and has provided excellent advice on our By-laws, Conflict of Interest document (required for all non-profits) and many other details associated with the incorporation of the Network as a non-profit.

At Large Board Member – Jan Bahner

Jan Bahner is a retired R.N and health care administrator and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the first church to actively support the Network. Her career experience in organizational development has been especially useful for the Network. St. Thomas Church has provided major assistance to students through providing backpacks and school supplies, drives for food and personal care items, and the Fellowship Hall for the Network fundraiser.

Secretary – Tina Brown

Tina Brown has an extensive background in event planning and fundraising, both professionally and in volunteering capacities. She has been active in the Junior League of Baltimore and was the Annual Fund Coordinator for two colleges, as well as for a national health organization. She lives in the Chatterleigh neighborhood.
