Halstead Academy Network
Halstead Academy has students in grades K-5 with a current enrollment of 491 students. Of these, 75% live in severe poverty, 371 qualify for Free Meals, 203 depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and 25 are currently identified as homeless. Many others live in families who make too much to qualify for meal assistance, but not enough to make ends meet.
The lead volunteers are Ashlee Alem and Mary James, who will work with school staff to fulfill student needs and stock and organize the room for students, now known as the Care Closet. For a list of items needed for the Care Closet, please check out the Care Closet page.
